I have a belief that no one can do business alone. You shouldn’t be doing business alone. You have to have people around you, people who are not only going to be there for you through the good times but stick by you through the bad times. You see, operating a business is like riding a roller coaster. You can be on top for one moment; enjoying victory after victory, success after success, basking in the sight of clients pouring in from all directions and sales that are on an all-time high but then there are days when it feels like you’re at the bottom and even the most aggressive marketing strategies don’t seem to work. You’ll reach a point in your life when you start to question whether or not you should persist or just give up. This is the time when you’ll realise that you need people, people who are going to motivate you, support you, people who have a genuine interest in pushing you to do better and strive for more.

It is my belief that in business, you need customers, you need clients, you need suppliers, you need providers and you need support. So I want to ask you a question, who have you got around you? Who have you got helping you in your business?

Here’s the sad reality, when you’re in business, no matter how busy your day gets, it can get lonely. Trust me, I know, which is why I always make sure that I have good coaches around me. It is imperative that you have a coach within your business because coaches give you outside insight that will enable you to see your business differently. Coaches can motivate and push you to keep going when you’re about to give up. They bring you back on track when you get off track but most importantly they are there when you need them so you will never feel alone. Coaches aren’t just there to teach and guide you what to do, they are there to listen to you. When you’re having an awful day, you can call them up and share your thoughts, good or bad, without being judged. You can discuss problems and challenges with them without feeling belittled.

Sure, we have friends and family we can talk to, friends we can whinge and whine to and sure they will give us advice but you need someone who is totally focused on the success of your business. Do you have that person? If not, you need to go find that person. This is one of the reasons why I founded SMJ Coaching Institute. I know there are a lot of coaches out there who feel alone, coaches who have been doing their own thing and working hard finding clients, coaches who are getting zero support and coaches who do not feel that they are a part of something. SMJ Coaching Institute was created so that coaches from all over the world can come together as a collective, to support each other. We can chat in groups, refer clients to each other and just be there for each other.

My point is, you don’t have to go through this journey alone. There are people out there who are genuinely invested in your success. Hang around with those people and become part of a collective so you don’t have to feel alone in business.
